Tell the Story / My Creative Scrapbook-September Tutorial

Hi My Creative Scrapbook Friends! Today, I am sharing two layouts with you using the September sketch.  I absolutely love working with sketches, it really helps in reducing my time spent planning out my placement. All I have to do is pick out my photo/photos, pattern papers, and embellishments and then decide if I'm going to use the sketch as is or take it in a different direction. 

For my first layout, I follow the sketch precisely, this is the fastest and easiest way to make a scrapbook layout.

Here's the September sketch! 

Gather my supplies....

I started my layout off by trimming down my white cardstock background and matting it on the Queen Bee patterned paper from the Wildflower and Honey collection. 

I then matted my photos with the reverse side of the Happy Spirit patterned paper and added some machine stitching around the perimeter to give it some additional texture and interest. 

      

Next, I added a strip of the Greenery patterned paper (reverse side) down the left hand side of the page and folded back the right hand corner of the white cardstock, so I can add a few layers of die cut pieces from the Ephemera pack.       

Add my matted photos.

I used stickers, die-cuts and chipboard from the Wildflower and Honey collection to embellish my layout by simply grouping them into clusters.  

Here's my second layout using the September sketch.

For this page I went in a totally different direction, by simply, using one photo and adding fussy cut flowers with a few embellishments in place of the patterned paper strip.  

  

I used the beautiful coral watercolor patterned paper for my background and arranged the fussy cut flowers by keeping them mainly to the center of the page.      

I love the stitching around the photos found on the sketch, so I recreate this by using a black pen to draw a frame around the outside of the photo!

Jillibean Soup - August Guest Designer

  

Hi everyone!  I am so excited and honored to be guest designing for Jillibean Soup, and sharing with you a few projects created with the gorgeous Spoonful of Soul collection.

My first layout....  

My idea was to have a big title for this page, so I enlarged the Love You Like Crazy cut file from Jillibean Soup and chose to used the Free Spirit patterned paper for this. To give it more dimension, I used foam tape to adhere the title down. To the right side, I added a few die-cut diamonds in various sizes and patterns. I also added a strip of the Free Spirit patterned paper across the middle of the layout, a few Pea Pod Parts from the Spoonful of Soul collection, my journaling and this layout is finish.

Since one of my favorite technique is layering, I combined some fussy cut stamped images using the Healthy Hello Soup clear stamp set with a few Spoonful of Soul Pea Pod parts to create dimension and texture by grouping them into clusters.

For my next layout, I wanted the punch circles to be the focal point of my page, as my idea was to add hand-stitching around the perimeter of each of the circles, giving it that extra detail and interest I was looking for.

For my last page....Pea Pod Parts, fussy cutting and a Jillibean Soup wreath cut file was used to create multiple layers.

I Love You / My Creative Scrapbook-August Tutorial

Hi My Creative Scrapbook friends! Today I'm sharing a quick and simple layout using two of My Creative Scrapbook exclusive cut files. You can find them HERE in add on.




On this page I went with an easy white on white background. I started by enlarge the cut file (circle below) to cover most of my 12x12 base and cut it from white cardstock. I then added some small pieces of foam tape to the back of cut file so that when I adhered it to the base, it would have some dimension. 



Paige Evans-Flower Corner cut file...

Next, the PE-Flower Corner cut file was cut from white cardstock. I kept the file quick large so that it can fill the entire right corner.  I then back the cut file using patterned papers from the 'Spring Farmhouse' collection. Once I had done that, I added foam tape underneath to lift it up and give it some extra dimension.   

 I created a speech bubble in my Silhouette Cameo, and used it as a place to lay my title on. 

I added a few chipboard pieces from the Celebrate Thickers on top of the cut file and this page was finish.

My Creative Scrapbook-August projects

Hi My Creative Scrapbook fans! 

Here's this months projects, using the August main kit! 

A quick summary of the products found in this month's main kit.....patterned paper from Simple Stories 'Spring Farmhouse' collection as well as a few pieces from the 'Simple Vintage Traveler' collection. The 12x12 combo cardstock stickers, Bits and Pieces Ephemera pack, and the beautiful floral cardstock Bits and Pieces. Also included in the main kit, a pack of sequin, Sticko small wood grain alpha stickers, Jen Hadfield wood phase stickers and American Crafts Celebrate painted patterned chipboard thickers.

Here's my projects and a few close-ups...

On this page, I chose to start this layout off, by adding a bit of mix media background using Vicki Boutin's watercolor markers.  I then build some layers behind my photo with patterned paper, die cuts from the Bits & Pieces pack, a cut file and a few fussy cut pieces to build dimension. 

I created a cluster of embellishments in the top left corner using stickers and die cuts. I also added a banner of punch stars across the top of the page.   

Happy 57th....

For this layout, I added a few pieces of torn patterned papers at the bottom and top of the page. At the top of the page, I tucked a few die cut hearts in various sizes and pattern to create a bit more interest.

I matted the photo with a couple pieces of patterned paper and keep most of my embellishments to the bottom part of my photo.
   

Sweet....

I couldn't resist documenting these cute photos for my son goofing around, while eating some watermelon!

I love layering, so I combined patterned paper, fussy cutting, a few Bits & Pieces as well as some Die Cut stars, to create dimension and textured by simple grouping them into clusters.

Enjoy Always | My Creative Scrapbook -July Tutorial

Hello, My Creative Scrapbook friends!  Today I am sharing a layout that incorporates two of my favorites....fussy cutting and using cut files.

 

I started by fussy cutting the beautiful flowers found on patterned paper 05. I drew an outline in pencil around the floral cluster, which made it easier for me to follow while fussy cutting.      

  

Next, I cut the cut file from some white cardstock, and since my idea was to arrange the fussy cut flowers and my photo in the middle of my page, I simply deleted the cutlines in the word summer.   

I added a few die-cut branches in with the fussy cutting and used both liquid glue and foam dots to adhere everything down. 

Apart from the floral clusters, I really didn't need to add too much embellishments to this layout. I used the word 'Always' found in the Indigo & Ivy titles as well as a die-cut piece as my title and added a few more ephemera pieces to finish off this layout.
