Happy | My Creative Scrapbook-May Tutorial

Hi My Creative Scrapbook fans!  It's Yvette with you today to share a layout I created using the gorgeou main kit. I couldn't resist fussy cutting the beautiful floral clusters on patterned paper 02 and adding stem stitching to the multi-color stripes on patterned paper 19. It took me awhile to do this, but was so worth it!

First, I started by fussy cutting some of the floral clusters to use around my photo.

I wanted my embroidery thread to match the stripes on the patterned paper, so off to the craft store I went, making sure to bring a sample of the pattern paper with me.

The stem stitch is also known as the crewel stitch, point de cable or stalk stitch. It was so easy to do and I really love the added texture and interest it create.

Let's get started....

1. Working from left to right, bring the needle up at point 'A' and down at point 'B'.

2. Bring the needle back up halfway between point 'A' and point 'B' where I have marked 'C' in the picture above and making sure your working thread is keep beneath the needle.

3. Keeping your working thread down, bring your needle down (a stitch length away) at point 'D' and then bring your needle up thought the end of the previous stitch where I have marked 'E' and repeat this pattern of stitching for the entire length that you wish to cover.

Here's what it looks like when it's all finish.....

Once I had all of my stitching done, I started playing around with the placement of my flower clusters. I used liquid glue for the stems and foam adhesive behind the flowers. I really like the  dimension it adds.

I fill in some of the empty spaces between the flowers with a few embellishments from Pink Paislee Horizon collection.

For my title, I used the happy chipboard/phrase sticker and place it horizontally on my layout.

I hope you feel inspired to give fussy cutting and hand stitching a try and have fun adding them to your projects!

Thanks you so much for stopping by today!

My Creative Scrapbook | May Creative Kit Projects

Hi My Scrapping Friends!

Here's this months projects using, the April Creative kit from My Creative Scrapbook....

A quick summary of the products found in this month's Creative Kit...patterned paper from Simple Stories 'Oh Happy Day' collection, the coordinating cardstock and chipboard stickers, as well as a package of Ephemera bit & pieces. Also included in the creative kit is a chevron stencil from Heidi Swapp and American Crafts foam phrase stickers.

Here are my projects and some close-ups created with this kit....

The beautiful bits & pieces in the 'Oh Happy Day' collection were the inspiration for this layout. I simply added them in a cluster down the left hand side of the layout and stitched in place.

Matted my photo with a couple of patterned papers from the 'Oh Happy Day' collection and added some machine stitching around the border. I then added a layer of solid cardstock with some patterned paper to provide a place for photo to sit on.

I layered a few more bits & pieces on my photo.

Sweet Smile....

I started with a flower cut file and cut if from white cardstock in various sizes. I then backed the cut file flowers using both patterned paper and solid cardstock and chose not to back a few of them. Embellished the center of the flowers using the ephemera bits & pieces and adhered them across the middle of my page, using foam tape for added dimension.

I arranged a few more embellishments, added some machine stitching and this page was finish.

Today Totally Rocked....

I started by building up some layers behind my photo using some of the patterned papers and orange cardstock. I then arranged all of my embellishments across the middle of the layout using stickers and bits & pieces from the 'Oh Happy Day' collection.

Across the top and bottom edges of the layout, I added a few circles in various sizes as well as some faux stitching.

#Best....

I used the chevron stencil from Heidi Swapp included in this months kit as a template to add some  stitching onto my background patterned paper.

Combined a journaling card, some of the bits & pieces with a few chipboard stickers from the 'Oh Happy Day' collection to create clusters and form a diagonal design on the page.

To a New Adventure | My Creative Scrapbook

Hi Scrapping Friends!

Today I'm sharing a new layout for My Creative Scrapbook using the gorgeous May main kit, and the exclusive cut file from The Cut Shoppe. I documented a photo of my son on vacation, enjoying an afternoon of boogie boarding.

Cut file...

I started by cutting the World Adventure cut file from white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo. I then decided on using the reverse side of (paper 05) the beautiful blue floral pattern paper as my background and used the colorful quilted rainbow (paper 03) pattern paper to back the heart in the cut file. I also added a thin strip of patterned paper 05 across the top and bottom edges of the layout.

I used a few of the die cuts from the Horizon collection to create clusters around my layout as well as one of the puffy sticker.

Added some hand stitched waves and a few white paint splatters to finish off this page.
